Ben handles Commercial and IP & Technology matters. He has wide-ranging experience of advising on commercial, outsourcing and technology contracts across multiple sectors, including leisure and hospitality, entertainment, retail, real estate, infrastructure and energy and financial services. He regularly advises clients on legal issues relating to the sale of goods and services, franchising, agency and distribution and consumer law. He also has significant experience of structuring and negotiating complex joint ventures and strategic collaborations. Throughout his career he has worked extensively on M&A transactions, including carve-outs, with a particular focus on PE deals, as well as advising PE-backed businesses on commercial law matters during the lifecycle of the investment. Ben is ranked as a Notable Practitioner in Chambers UK for Commercial Contracts, where a client comments: “Ben is wonderful to work with. He takes time to understand his clients and their business. He approaches problems with a high degree of commercial awareness to our unique situation.” He is also ranked as a Leading Partner for Commercial Contracts in the Legal 500. Prior to joining Temple Bright in 2025, Ben was a partner at Travers Smith in the City.

Relevant experience at Temple Bright and at his previous firm includes:

  • Advising a major new UK film studio on its critical third party supply arrangements and on multiple licensing deals with major film studios and streaming platforms.
  • Advising a FTSE250 business on two complex third party joint ventures relating to the rollout of its operations across multiple European jurisdictions.
  • Advising a recently launched challenger bank on critical technology contracts that will underpin the systems architecture of the bank.
  • Advising a large investment bank on the negotiation of a key global outsourcing contract relating to the provision of payroll and HR services.
  • Advising a leading university on arrangements relating to the provision of student accommodation at the university in the context of a joint venture with a major asset manager.
  • Advising a large multinational business headquartered in the US on its arrangements for the distribution of its product portfolio across the UK and Europe.
