Temple Bright advises on publishing deal

13/10/2010

One of Bristol’s newest law firms, Temple Bright LLP, acted for Bath based Anthem Publishing on its acquisition from IPC Media of Guitar & Bass magazine. Jonathan Poole led the deal with James Howell giving specialist employment advice. City firm, Herbert Smith, acted for IPC.

Anthem’s managing director, Jon Bickley, commented: “We were impressed with Jonathan and James’ commercial input as well as legal advice and really appreciate the time they put in even though working for a capped fee. They helped shape our offer, including the strategic decision to open a London office. This saw us win through the auction process as well as reducing consequent costs. It’s an exciting time for Anthem and having a London base is already opening up new opportunities.”

Jonathan Poole commented: “I was delighted to work with Anthem again on this important stage of their growth. The transaction was a great example of what we are trying to offer the SME market: a fresh and more commercial way of accessing legal advice, with certainty on price and a team of senior lawyers.”
