Tom handles both contentious and non-contentious Employment matters. He supports employers by preparing tailored employee documentation and advising on disciplinary and grievance matters, restructuring and reorganisations, executive appointments and dismissals and protection of confidential company information. Tom has wide experience of employment litigation including all forms of discrimination and whistleblowing and has successfully fought claims up to the Court of Appeal. He has particular experience in relation to TUPE, national minimum/living wage and holiday pay. He is a member of our ESG, Compliance & Investigations team. Before joining Temple Bright in 2016, Tom trained at Eversheds and worked at Ashurst and DAC Beachcroft in the City before co-founding a niche employment practice. His experience also includes secondments as employment counsel at a global telecoms company, a US investment bank and a high profile celebrity chef business.

Experience

Relevant experience at Temple Bright includes:

  • Advising on a significant board level restructure for a major media group.
  • Successfully defending employment and share related claims pursued by former employees seeking to maximise reputational damage to an online news and current affairs business.
  • Advising on the design, implementation and communications for a UK collective redundancy exercise undertaken by a multinational retailer.
  • Advising on grievances alleging sexual harassment and involving regulated employees in a large US private equity backed healthcare provider.
  • Acting for a senior executive in financial services to negotiate his exit from the organisation on favourable terms and with agreed announcements and reference.
